This project entails profiling a large data collection of heterogeneous data types for feature analysis and classification purposes. My main task on this project is to understand the functions available in the OpenCV (Open Source Computer Vision) Library and use them for the classification and clustering of related images and video-frames. After a serial program is developed for this task using C/C++ and the OpenCV library, the possibility of parallelizing it will be explored. Another task on this project will be to develop a scalable program for extracting text from images and videos in a large data collection. The software developed in this project will be tested on the Stampede supercomputer using a very large collection of images and videos.
